YWAC Spotlight on Cindy

Cindy is our wonderful surgical coordinator for our public spay/ n solutions program. She is smart, logical, organized, an exercise guru, fun, and we are lucky to have her!

Briefly describe what you do all day.

I work with the best people to help spay and neuter owned animals.   Take in owned animals, make baggies with their vaccines, microchips or what ever else they have purchased. Then coordinate surgeries, and keep a watch full eye on their recovery.    Then after surgeries, we clean and set everything up ready for the next day.

What’s the best thing about your job?

Helping owners being responsible on getting their animals spayed/neuter.   Seeing how much we are appreciated in the community.    Playing with cute animals is a plus!

What does your workspace look like?

Well it’s a RV, with everything the shelter clinic has, just not the space.

What’s been one of your proudest moments working for YWAC?

Oh there’s been many, since I’ve been there 9 1/2 years.    One of the most recent how we are no-kill shelter.   Never thought I would see the day.

What do you like to do when you’re not at the office?

Hiking, camping and working around my house. A lot of projects to do, lol.

And being a grandma to 6 adorable babies!

What inspires you?

“Thank you” and “We appreciate all that you do, it’s a great service.”    When you hear comments like that, then you know your having an effect on someones life, or more important an animals’ life.

Fill in the blank: I once met…

I once met Stan Brock of “RAM”,  Remote Area Medical.  We were doing our first free spay/neuter with RAM, and he actually come on the mobile.  What an amazing man and he will be truly missed.

If you could pick one superpower, what would it be?

I had to look some superpowers up, came across the ability to “Talk to Animals.”

What is the song title that best describes your personality?

  Stronger  by Kelly Clarkson

What are five words (or less) of advice for others in your profession?

Don’t take things personal.

Where are you from and what do you like best about living here?

Hamilton, Ohio and my family and husbands family still live there.

Best things about living in Knoxville, finding my professional calling and the mountains, including my “Twisted Sisters” family.
