Young-Williams Animal Center to ‘Clear the Shelters’ with discounted adoptions in August
Young-Williams Animal Center will seek to “Clear the Shelters” in the month of August with discounted adoptions for adult pets.
The annual event is sponsored by WBIR Channel 10 as part of the “Clear the Shelters” campaign nationwide. For the first time, the campaign will last an entire month to make it easier for people to participate while continuing to practice safe social distancing measures. Since 2015, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations’ Clear the Shelter campaign has helped more than 410,000 pets find new homes. Young-Williams Animal Center would like to reach 500 adoptions during this campaign.
“Campaigns like this one usually lead to our most successful one-day adoption events,” says Janet Testerman, CEO of Young-Williams Animal Center. “With this year’s initiative lasting the entire month of August, we are hoping for our greatest turnout yet, so we can clear our shelter and see so many pets get the loving family they deserve. We are grateful to partner with WBIR on this national initiative to find a home for every pet.”
The adoption special includes a flat fee of $20 for adult pets instead of the regular $40 cost. Puppies remain $250 each, kittens are $100 and buy one, get one free, and adult cats over 3 years old are free.
Safe social distancing measures remain in place, so pets will be available for adoption by appointment-only. To see adoptable animals and apply online, visit young-williams.org/adopt-a-pet.
Adoption staff will help potential adopters find the right pet for their lifestyle and needs and assist with completion of the adoption application. Every animal adopted during the special promotion will receive the same services covered by the regular adoption fees, which include a veterinary exam, spay/neuter surgery, some standard vaccinations, a microchip with registration and more.
“This campaign is a great opportunity to help many pets find their forever homes and open up much needed space in the shelter,” Testerman says. “We encourage the community to take advantage of this month-long campaign and set up an appointment to adopt.”
