What Your Support Makes Possible: Ellie and Domino’s Story
Dear Friends,
As summer fades, children head back to school, and cooler days arrive, all of us at Young-Williams Animal Center are deeply grateful for your unwavering generosity.
This year, you’ve stood with us through the toughest challenges—kitten season’s flood of tiny, fragile lives… an increase in lost pets desperately needing to find their way home… and heat waves that tested the limits of every shelter resource we had. Because of you, we saved lives, reunited families, and gave countless animals the love and care they deserve. But the work is far from over.
Every day, more animals arrive—many sick, injured, or simply abandoned—each one in need of urgent medical care, nourishing food, and the promise of a safe, warm place to rest. We cannot meet this need without your compassion.
Let me tell you about Ellie.
Ellie is just two years old. For most of her young life, she’s been bravely battling leukemia. Throughout her treatment, she wished for one thing: a gentle, loving cat to curl up beside her. Her mother, Megan, came to us hoping to make that dream come true—just in time for Ellie’s final month of treatment and the hope of remission.
We knew the stakes were high. Ellie’s doctors stressed the importance of finding a cat with a calm, affectionate nature to keep her safe. Thanks to our staff and devoted foster families, we introduced Ellie to Domino—a sweet, patient cat who instantly climbed into her lap as if he’d been waiting just for her. In that moment, something shifted.
Ellie’s smile lit up the room, and Domino began his new life as her constant source of comfort and joy. This is the power of your support. You don’t just help animals—you help create life-changing moments for people who need hope the most. Today, we need your help to make more happy endings like Ellie and Domino’s possible.
It costs $12,000 every single day to keep our doors open and care for the animals who rely on us. Your gift—whether $60 to spay/neuter a cat, $300 to care for 8 animals for a day, or $1,000 to support pets in our Furry Friends program—will transform lives.
Please, give today. Together, we can make sure every animal has a safe place, and every family in need has the chance to fall in love with a shelter pet.
Warm Wishes,
Janet Testerman, CEO
