Spare the Big Air Challenge!

Smoky Mountain Dock Dogs and Earth Day 2012 in Oak Ridge invite you to join us for the “Spare the BIG AIR Challenge”!

The 3-day competition will kick off on Friday, April 27th and end on Sunday, April 29th.  For this event, a regulation 40′ dock and 40′ x 12′ pool of water will be brought onto park property.  Dogs from all over the country will come to compete in the three sporting disciplines of DockDogs:  Big Air, which measures the length of their jump; Extreme Vertical, which measures the height; and Speed Retrieve, which measures how fast they run, jump, and swim.   The event is open to all dog owners and pets, regardless of age, breed, or size, and no experience is necessary.  Dogs will compete in any of the 3 categories; Big Air, Speed Retreat, Vertical Jump – or even in all three for the Iron Dog title.   For more information about the Smoky Mountain Dock Dogs or to register to compete, visitwww.smokymountaindockdogs.com.   You may also read more about the event in the press release for the Spare the Big Air Challenge.

This is the first dock diving event here in Oak Ridge, and the first DockDogs event in this part of East Tennessee!  Make plans to join us as a spectator, competitor (with your dog, of course), or sponsor!  We also need volunteers to help with the event, setting up on Friday morning (9 – noon) and breaking down on Sunday afternoon (3 – 6).  Please contact Trent Steele if you would like to help, and let him know your contact details and when you are available.

If you would like to be a sponsor of this event, please contact Linda Johnston at 220-9433 or email [email protected].  All sponsors will receive Earth Day sponsorship benefitsaccording to donation level, plus benefits provided per donation with Smoky Mountain Dock Dogs.
