Shelter’s longest-term resident moves into forever home

At Young-Williams Animal Center, our staff and volunteers believe every pet is special, but there are some who stay longer, building stronger bonds with those at the shelter.

One of those animals is Katie, our longest-term resident. You might remember the 8-year-old pit bull mix whose story we shared in June. Supporters responded with an outpouring of love and helped us spread the word so we could find a forever home for Katie. We are happy to announce, thanks to supporters like you, Katie was adopted during the recent Clear the Shelters campaign.

Our staff and volunteers will never forget the 244 days Katie spent at our shelter. Some days were disappointing, like when Katie’s previous placements did not work out for her. Others, like Doggy Day Trips, made it all worth it. Katie has come a long way since coming in as a scared stray, and we are excited to see her embark on new adventures with her owner.

It is safe to say Katie has settled into her surroundings. Her adopter shares updates with our staff to show how much she is loving her new home. Katie’s adopter says she is “full of energy” and enjoys running and sleeping with her squeaky toys – some things never change!

Animals like Katie deserve another chance, and Young-Williams Animal Center is honored to help homeless pets every day because of your support. Katie’s happy ending was one of nearly 600 adoptions during the month-long Clear the Shelters campaign. We cannot thank enough those who give, share our animals’ stories or take a pet home with them!

If you are interested in adopting, meet the hundreds of animals in our care under the “Adopt” tab. If you cannot commit but want to assist in Young-Williams Animal Center’s efforts, consider becoming a short-term foster or Furry Friends sponsor.
