Foster Parents Needed!

There are many times that YWAC receives animals that are too young, too sick/injured or too un-socialized to place on our adoption floor. These animals need time, attention and TLC to become successful adoption floor candidates.

It’s because of these animals that we developed our Foster Care Program. Foster families enable us to “extend our footprint” and allows us to give them extra time to age, recover and be socialized.

Jasenka Martinovic is our new Placement Coordinator and she facilitates our Foster Care Program. Jasenka is currently seeking community members who would like to volunteer for this important mission.

When your family participates in our Foster Care Program, YWAC will supply all the food, litter, medications and medical care required during their foster stay.

As Jasenka puts it, “We provide everything except a home and your love”.

When you decide to become a Foster family, we will ask that you agree to scheduled check-ups, provide feedback and a certain level of commitment to assist us in making these animals ready to enter a new home.

Most of our foster opportunities come in the spring and summer when we see more unweaned litters. This requires a higher level of commitment with frequent feedings and juvenile socialization.

Foster Families are asked to have their resident pets’ current on all vaccinations and preferably altered. If you are taking an adult dog into a home where another adult dog resides, it would be preferable to do a Meet and Greet prior to placement.

If you are interested in joining our Foster Care Program, please contact Jasenka Martinovic at 215-6692 or e-mail [email protected] .
