Barkitecture

February 22 - March 8

We’ve teamed up with AIA East Tennessee to help shelter, rehabilitate and find permanent homes for dogs and cats in Knox County. Barkitecture is a custom pet house design contest and silent auction that raises funds to care for the pets at Young-Williams Animal Center.

How it works:
  • Pull together a team of designers, builders, animal lovers, and other interested individuals.
  • Design and build a custom doghouse or a cat tree.
  • Your team will be paired with a local business, where your one-of-a-kind creation will be displayed.
  • Sit back and let the bidding begin! Builds will be auctioned off online between February 22 – March 8.
  • Compete for awards, including Best in CATegory (Big Dog, Little Dog, Cat Tree), Most Sustainable Design and a People’s Choice Award.

Sign up to complete a build now! Your team can be composed of architects, allied professions, makers, and friends!  Winners will be announced at Mardi Growl on March 6th, so time to get building! Categories include Big Dog, Little Dog and Cat Tree. Watch the short, 9-minute video, see the key dates, and register your team here. For more information, contact Sarah Peacock!

Stay tuned for information about the upcoming silent auction and how you can take one of these custom pieces home! Auction opens February 22 and closes March 8.
