DESCRIPTION:The NBC Clear the Shelters Event is a month-long event\, culminating to one big day of adoptions on September 18! This event is sponsored by WBIR Channel 10 as part of the “Clear the Shelters” campaign nationwide. Since 2015\, NBC Universal Owned Television Stations’ Clear the Shelter campaign has helped more than 410\,000 pets find new homes. \nVisit the shelter to find your new best friend! Adoption staff will help potential adopters find the right pet for their lifestyle and assist with completion of the adoption application. Every animal adopted during the special promotion will receive the same services covered by the regular adoption fees\, which include a veterinary exam\, spay/neuter surgery\, some standard vaccinations\, a microchip with registration and more.

In 2018\, for the first time in the history of our organization\, we achieved a 90%+ save rate\, earning our designation as a no-kill shelter and saving 8\,311 animals. DESCRIPTION:  \nUpdate from our CEO Janet Testerman:  \nIt is with great disappointment I inform you that due to the forecast of rain\, wind and thunderstorms\, we must postpone our Cause for Paws event this evening to ensure the safety of our guests\, pets\, staff and vendors. This was a difficult decision\, and we explored all other scenarios before determining not to continue with the event tonight. We will reach out again as soon as we select a new date. Our staff and volunteers have worked extremely hard to prepare for an exciting night of saving lives\, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you in the near future. This signature event raises awareness and dollars to support Young-Williams’ vision of A Home for Every Pet. \nAs the municipal shelter of the City of Knoxville and Knox County\, we take in more than 8\,000 lost\, unwanted\, abandoned and neglected animals each year and depend on animal lovers like you to provide the best quality of life while these pets are in our care. In 2018\, for the first time in the history of our organization\, we achieved a 90%+ save rate\, earning our designation as a no-kill shelter and saving 8\,311 animals.
