SUMMARY:Cause for Paws 2021 - POSTPONED
DESCRIPTION:  \nUpdate from our CEO Janet Testerman: \nIt is with great disappointment I inform you that due to the forecast of rain\, wind and thunderstorms\, we must postpone our Cause for Paws event this evening to ensure the safety of our guests\, pets\, staff and vendors. This was a difficult decision\, and we explored all other scenarios before determining not to continue with the event tonight. We will reach out again as soon as we select a new date. Our staff and volunteers have worked extremely hard to prepare for an exciting night of saving lives\, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you in the near future. All table sponsorships and tickets purchased will be honored for the rescheduled date. If you have any questions or concerns\, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. \n  \nDear Friends of Young-Williams Animal Center\, \nWe are so excited to celebrate our 7th Annual Cause for Paws on Thursday\, October 21. This signature event raises awareness and dollars to support Young-Williams’ vision of A Home for Every Pet. \nAs the municipal shelter of the City of Knoxville and Knox County\, we take in more than 8\,000 lost\, unwanted\, abandoned and neglected animals each year and depend on animal lovers like you to provide the best quality of life while these pets are in our care. In 2018\, for the first time in the history of our organization\, we achieved a 90%+ save rate\, earning our designation as a no-kill shelter and saving 8\,311 animals. We have maintained that status ever since\, with a 94.8% save-rate currently. \nWe could not do our important work without your help and hope you’ll join us for this fun evening of fabulous food\, great music and the chance to make an impact in the lives of thousands of pets looking for a second chance and a true “tail” of love. \nLearn more\, become a sponsor and purchase tickets at: www.young-williams.org/c4p \nThank you to our generous event sponsors for their support: \nWhitfield and Brittany Bailey\nCreative Mortgage Solutions\nAllison and Fred Smith\nBill Pittman and Tina Roland

SUMMARY:The Big Give
DESCRIPTION:Amplify the good created on Giving Tuesday! What’s Giving Tuesday? This event is a celebration that piggybacks Thanksgiving\, Black Friday\, small business Saturday and Cyber Monday and is a global holiday that raises BILLIONS of dollars for charities around the world. Since 2015\, it’s really taken off and this day plays an important role in providing for the animals in the shelter. \nIn 2021\, Giving Tuesday falls on Nov. 30 and Young-Williams Animal Center is celebrating locally by participating in The Big Give. \nHere’s where you come in. We need your help to reach each of our three BIG give goals: \n1. Raise $10\,000 in donations \n2. Win the Closing Time Prize for raising the most money between 5:00 – 6:00 PM \n3. Win the Nouveau Riche Prize by being the organization with the most NEW donors on November 30. \nThe easiest way you can help us reach these goals is by becoming a fundraiser and asking your friends\, family and followers to support the cause you care about. Becoming a fundraiser is quick and easy. Visit our Big Give page here and click the black “FUNDRAISE” button. Here you’ll set up an account and your own personal fundraising page. Feel free to include a photo or story about why you love Young-Williams and why you’re asking others to give. Need some help with your page? Reach out to our fundraising team at donations@young-williams.org. \nLeading up to November 30\, share your fundraising page on social media\, talk about it at Thanksgiving Dinner or even post in a neighborhood group. Then\, on Tuesday November 30 it’s time to shine! Share your page all day long\, but don’t forget to encourage your friends and family to give during the 5:00 PM hour. \nThanks so much for helping us care for the nearly 10\,000 animals that come to us in need of shelter each year. Our mission can only be achieved with the support of our community of animal lovers\, like you!

SUMMARY:2023 Pet Calendar Contest
DESCRIPTION:We are no longer accepting pre-orders for the 2023 Young-Williams Animal Center Pet Calendar. \nPlease keep an eye on social media for when calendars will be available for purchase in the lobby of our Division Street location. \n\nThe Young-Williams Animal Center calendar contest helps provide care for the nearly 10\,000 homeless\, stray\, and unwanted pets we take in every year. The official Young-Williams Animal Center 2023 Wall Calendar is sponsored by Mortgage Investors Group. \n All proceeds support the mission of Young-Williams Animal Center to lead the community to end pet homelessness\, promote animal welfare\, and enhance the human-animal bond. \nFundraisers like our 2023 Pet Calendar Contest are so important to our mission and helps animals in our care right now. Animals like Coda the puppy. Coda was rushed to UT Vet Hospital after being attacked by a wild animal and was stabilized before being transferred to Young-Williams for care. His small front leg was broken in multiple places but the injury didn’t stop him from snuggling up to our vet staff. At such a young age\, we knew amputation was not only the best medical path\, but that he would easily learn how to walk on three legs. Thanks to the Animal Compassion Fund\, he got the emergency vet care he needed and is now in a new home dedicated to keeping him safe and loved. Your entries and votes help provide for Coda and hundreds of pets just like him. \n\nSPONSORED BY

SUMMARY:Kitten Pilates with Susie Q
DESCRIPTION:Our much anticipated kitten yoga series is back and better than ever! This year\, you have four chances to stretch it out with our most adorable residents: Our Kittens! For our second of four classes\, we’ll be at Breezeway Yoga Studio with instructor Susie Q. This one hour pilates class will leave you with the glow of a good workout and a warm\, fuzzy feeling knowing you made a difference for vulnerable pets. \nRegistration is $25 and 100% of proceeds benefit the pets at Young-Williams Animal Center. Want to share a little extra love with our kittens? Send a care package or bring an item from our kitten shower wish list. \n\n \nMeet Susie\nAfter an accident (falling off a big horse) and a 6 hour back surgery\, my doctor told me to take Pilates classes. I took my first class in 2005. My back is in better shape now than prior to my accident. \nI realized that I love Pilates so much that I wanted to teach it to others\, so they may benefit the way I have. Since I am already a teacher (elementary education)\, the teaching part has been an easy transition. The movements we do are also easy to teach since I have been doing them so long. I started my teacher training in 2012 and began teaching mat classes in 2013. I started my apparatus training in August 2018 and hope to complete it within a year! \nMy posture\, balance and body is in much better shape now than it ever has been. I no longer have the aches and pains of age (but do get some when I do not work out regularly)! I hope you decide to join me in a class soon! \nVisit her webpage here.  \nCan’t get enough kittens? Register for the next kitten yoga class too and you’ll really be feline good!

SUMMARY:Kitten Yoga with Down Dog Knox
DESCRIPTION:Our much beloved kitten yoga series is coming to a close. The final of four opportunities to stretch it out with our most adorable residents -our kittens – is happening on July 17 ! For our final class\, Jennifer Ward of Down Dog Knox will be hosting at Breezeway Yoga Studio. This one hour yoga class will leave you with the glow of a good workout and a warm\, fuzzy feeling knowing you made a difference for vulnerable pets. \nRegister Here! \n  \nRegistration is $25 and 100% of proceeds benefit the pets at Young-Williams Animal Center. Want to share a little extra love with our kittens? Send a care package or bring an item from our kitten shower wish list. \n \n\n\nAbout Jennifer Ward\, RYT 500\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen I was in my late 30s\, a yoga studio opened around the corner from my house. Apart from hearing it was “good for you”\, I knew nothing about yoga. One day a week along with other workouts was\, in my mind\, a good place to start. But then…a teacher at the studio suggested that with 2 to 3 days a week\, I would really begin to see the benefits. I took her advice and I fell in love! I couldn’t have imagined then how much this practice would bring me in the following almost 10 years; strength\, flexibility\, peace\, and the very best friends I’ve ever had. Yoga has truly been the best gift in my life. \n
