The Animal Center needs volunteer help every day. Volunteers are welcome at the main Center on Division Street and throughout the year at special events. Volunteers are required to:
- Be at least 16 years old.
- Attend a general orientation and all scheduled training
- Donate at least six (6) hours each month to the animals for a minimum of one (1) year–longer commitments are welcome. Shorter-term volunteering and court-assigned community service opportunities are not available.
- Pay a one-time $25 volunteer program fee to cover the cost of name tags, shirts, printing (volunteer manual, articles about animal welfare), and other program expenses
- Volunteer on a set schedule of their choosing.
Volunteers are needed to:
- Greet Visitors.
- Walk and socialize dogs.
- Help dogs with obedience skills.
- Bathe dogs and puppies.
- Play with cats.
- Clean kennels and cages.
- Answer phones.
- Assist potential adopters.
- Assist with fundraising and special events.
- Help with administrative duties.
- Help with education and outreach programming.
- Help update our web site by assisting with pet photos and compiling pet information.
- Foster animals short-term and long-term.
- And more.
