We are an open admissions shelter, providing sheltering service for both city and county animal control agencies. We also take in strays, unwanted animals, and surrendered pets from the public. No animal is ever turned away. As a nonprofit organization, we are community-funded through public and private donations.

By law, the center is the only facility in Knox County permitted to house stray animals. The State of Tennessee requires strays to be held in the facility for a minimum of three (3) days. Check the shelter no less than every other day to look for your pet. Keep checking back for a period of two weeks to a month, and don’t give up! Pets can easily show up at the shelter long after their owners stop looking.
